Photomath in 2015

2015 was an interesting year for Photomath. A lot of work has been put into improving the app and assuring the best possible user experience. That work has been recognized not just by students and their parents but also by media and tech sector.

At the beginning of 2015, a long awaited Android version of Photomath was released. Compared to previous versions for iOS and WP, new Photomath had many new features and usability improvements. This version provided better support for high school level math packed with completely new and simpler way of displaying math solutions. Throughout the year solver improvements continued and Photomath became powerful enough to scan derivations, integrals and other advanced math problems.

Another major progress happened at the end of 2015 when Photomath 2.0 for iOS was released. The main new feature is Math Keyboard which, for the first time, gives users the opportunity to type-in math problems. With this new feature users now have the option to edit scanned mathematical problems, as well as to use Photomath as a very powerful scientific calculator.

All the effort put into improving Photomath was recognized by those most important - our users. Photomath app has been featured as the best free app multiple times and it has hit over 24M downloads and 4M monthly active users.

Tech sector also recognised that Photomath represents the revolution in both education and modern technology. Photomath is a proud winner of 4YFN competition in Barcelona in a category Digital Media which is the world's largest startup competition on mobile technologies and business models. Photomath team also participated at the Netexplo Forum 2015 and received the Award for the app in the field of educational technology.

Throughout the year Photomath has been covered by many major media companies including CNN, Forbes, Time, CBS, MailOnline, Reuters, Huffington post etc. Photomath also collaborated with the biggest Croatian telecommunication company Hrvatski Telekom through organising math competition HTmatika for students. The main aim of this project was to promote mathematics as an essential and vital discipline but also to show how usable and fascinating it can be.

Here we presented only a short description of all that was happening around Photomath throughout the year. What isn’t described is our everyday work that is inspired by constant communication with our users. On this communication we base our plans for the future. We want Photomath to be the tool children and their parents turn to when they struggle with Math. Photomath should provide instant help for many different math problems, from kindergarten to high school and more. Using Photomath, children should learn better, and get better grades. This is our plan for 2016.
